Sung – Collider

Artist: Sung
Album: Collider
Released: November 6th, 2015

In a future where there is no future; where existence has come to except darkness, hatred, fear, and an all powerful regime, “Collider” is our only hope.

This is an EP that could have been torn from the pages of Orwells’ “1984” or Zamyatins’ “WE”, as its vision of a totalitarian state is so vivid, and raw, you’ll begin pacing the streets feeling faceless figures watching from every window, without the need to look. Paranoia..?

Listening to “Collider” gives you the feel of a world under control. It all seams so real, when you let the music take you. Like any good “big-brother” type novel, you cannot help and go on searching for that spark; that ray of light that will brake our hidden captors and free us all.

Even the wonderfully bleek artwork (see cover) couldn’t be any further from a dystopian future. “Sung” has worked hard on bringing this very possible look into what might be; as if he awoke from a dream and began creating the visuals in music form, in an instant.

“Sung” has worked hard on bringing this very possible look into what might be; as if he awoke from a dream and began creating the visuals in music form, in an instant.

And it all begins with “Paris Gotham”. This is an escapable city encased in dark buildings, all a mile-high or more, with ceaseless rain and technology designed to imprison even the most resistant minds. However, a figure who longs for more threatens to shatter the realms that hold us all.

And that curiosity gains gravitas in “Reload”. The blood pumps, the heart pounds, every fibre flexes.

There is a lot of energy and direction here. We will need everything this track can fuel us with. “Future” gives us shades of what love feels like in a loveless world. It is our way out. The search for freedom hits the long, dark, road in “Killometer”.

The inner strength builds over, and over, and over, taking us to the final showdown, that is “Arena”. Freedom is what is wanted and is inevitable. The overlords are faced down with the will of the few… But when did quantity matter?

It’s all about quality, and this is what you get with “Collider”. Sung suffers from one thing, and one thing only: Perpetual progressiveness.

Each release to date has got better than the last, and each release boasts new sounds and tricks. Most of all, you can tell that this artist isn’t here to waste anyones time, he’s here to craft tracks that will only help pass the time in the most pleasurable way possible.

There is plenty more to come.
